Casas del Rey was born from a small hamlet in the 18th century, with only 3 neighbors in 1752. It had 308 inhabitants in 1950, although afterwards, the population started decreasing until today, when just around 30 neighbors live there.

- Bezorgen we onze wijn standaard zo duurzaam mogelijk.

Recently, Derrick Neleman acquired it for its reconstruction, officially becoming Bodegas Neleman / Viticultores Neleman. An action carried out with the support of different neighbors, which is rejuvenating and energizing the small village.
Learn moreDuring the last century, the main income of its inhabitants came from the winery-cooperative that they had created to put in common the grapes from their vineyards and make their own wines. This winery, called "Cristo Rey", was founded in 1961, with a capacity of only 11,000 Hlt. Due to the population decline, it stopped working a few years ago.

The only bar-restaurant in Casas del Rey is the one run by Maria Carmen. In addition to being a restaurant, it functions as a social center for the village and once a week as a doctor's office. It also functions as a meeting place for parties and for dancing. For visitors, it is the best place to taste the best traditional dishes in the area.
The locals affirm that the name of Casas del Rey (King´s Houses) is due to the Archduke Carlos of Austria, who is supposed to have spent the night in 1706 in the village during the War of Succession on his way to Requena. Another theory believes that the Royalty of its name is due to being located on the king's lands that were leased by the town of Requena to the peasants of the area.
Casarreños (Casas del Rey habitants) are characterized by their open and friendly character.
Mooiere momenten, mooiere herinneringen. Mooiere herinneringen, mooiere dromen.
